Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is Bliss By The Sea directly on the beach?
A: Yes! Walk past the pool, down a short path, out the gate and your toes are in the sand.

Q: Can the staff accommodate special diets?
A: Absolutely - just let us know in advance, and Jennifer will tailor your meals accordingly.

Q: Is the beach house child-friendly?
A: Yes, families are welcome. The pool has shallow and deep areas. Please know that there are no guardrails, so we prefer that children know how to swim and are monitored by adults in the group.

Q: How far is Bliss By The Sea from the Montego Bay and Kingston Airport?

  • Montego Bay: 2.5 hours by private transfer drivers familiar with the roads along Jamaica’s quiet South Coast.

  • Kingston: It takes 3+ hours by private drivers familiar with the new highway (toll road) and the mountainous roads to get to Treasure Beach.

Q: Do we need to rent a car?
A: Great Bay is a remote area in Treasure Beach - about a 10 minute drive to “downtown” or a 1-hr walk either by the coast or along interior roads.

You can hire a private driver or rent a car “locally” to explore nearby restaurants, beaches, or day trips to YS Falls, Appleton Rum, or Lovers Leap.

NOTE: If you have not driven to the South Coast before, we recommend you hire a driver to bring you from Montego Bay or Kingston, especially if part of your drive will be in the dark. The roads to the South Coast are not regular paved highways with clear signs or street lights. They are also riddled with large potholes that have caused numerous flat tires.

 Villa Reviews:

Simply heavenly! Magnificent architect-designed house with incredible views, a huge swimming pool overlooking a large "private" beach with superb sunsets.
Everything is perfect, nothing is missing (beach towel, well-stocked kitchens, board for boardwalking, Bluetooth speaker, Netflix,...).
A perfect place to spend quality time with family. And communication with Nicole is super quick and easy. She answers our questions in less than 30 minutes! Don't hesitate, "Bliss by the sea" is idyllic!”

“Where do I even begin? My family of 6 had an incredible week at Bliss by the Sea! After a long day of travel, we were greeted by Mark who took us to our own private oasis. It is a long drive and the road can be rough but, it is definitely worth it once the gates to the property open. When we arrived at the property, we got settled and enjoyed a beer from the stocked fridge while the staff (Jennifer and Shamara) prepared an amazing dinner! We've done the VRBO thing a few times and I'll admit to being initially apprehensive about staying at a property with staff but, the staff are a main part of what makes this property so special. Jennifer is a fabulous cook - everything she makes is to die for (especially the jerk chicken). Shamara works alongside restocking the house with groceries and supplies and doing the daily cleaning of the property. These two women captured our hearts and always had a smile on their face! We also enjoyed the company of Garie and Andre who are responsible for the pool maintenance - truly awesome guys!
The property is beautiful - the pool overlooks the ocean and the beach is steps away. We hardly ever saw anyone on the beach and it was very private and secluded. The beach/ ocean is perfect for kids - sandy, shallow, calm - my kids spent hours playing in the waves and enjoying every second of it. The house is laid out very well with one large bedroom in the main house (perfect for a family travelling with small kids) and two good size bedrooms in the courtyard. Each bedroom has its own ensuite so it's the perfect property for a group where everyone still has their own space. The pool is a great size and provides an incredible view of the ocean and the amazing sunsets.
While the property alone is enough, what makes Bliss by the Sea truly special is the beautiful community surrounding it. The lovely locals will give you privacy and seclusion if that's your preference or embrace you, make you family and share the best parts of their community with you if that's more your style - we are the latter. We lucked out and arrived when Jennifer's husband was home (he is a fisherman and works away often) and he offered to take us to the Pelican Bar - what an experience! The people are so very friendly, kind and welcoming - our whole group (ages 5 to 72) felt safe, secure and at home the entire time we were at Bliss.
Last (but most definitely not least), Nicole is a pleasure to work with. She is organized, responsive and a wealth of information and truly went out of her way to answer all our questions to make sure our experience from beginning to end was positive and stress free.
I cannot say enough good things about this property, the beautiful people and our wonderful experience. A few things to note... It is beachfront Jamaican property - there are mosquitos and bugs - best to plan ahead for that with repellant and/or afterbite. While the property has WIFI, the coverage is not great (again, it is Jamaica). We had decent connection in the main areas of the house which was more than enough for us for just checking in back home, listening to music or setting the kids up with a movie. We had one issue with the pool lights not working when we arrived - a quick text to Nicole and an electrician arrived the next day (on a holiday) to fix the issue. The entire Bliss by the Sea team went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and were able to enjoy everything this special place had to offer!
We had an incredible time - one week was not long enough - and we cannot wait to come back to Bliss by the Sea, to enjoy Jennifer's jerk chicken, and to explore the beautiful community of Treasure Beach! From our family to the Bliss by the Sea family, thank you for a truly unforgettable vacation!

“Amazing, peaceful villa just steps from a private pool overlooking a beautiful stretch of beach on the south coast of Jamaica! Quiet beach, perfect for swimming, shell collecting, sandcastle building and viewing the sunset each night. Kind, friendly staff who prepare delicious local meals and help you arrange excursions should you actually want to leave this idyllic spot. The nighttime stars will take your breath away.”

“Best most relaxing vacation ever! From the airy comfortable house to the gorgeous flower filled grounds was perfection. Jennifer did a fantastic job of taking care of all our needs scrumptious meals and even an appt at the Dr for a sinus infection was done with ease and quicker than I could have achieved at home! My compliments to the owner who was gratious and beyond accommodating! We will definitely be back!”

"Word's cannot begin to describe this villa. The booking and scheduling with Tiverton House, LLC was First class all the way. Nicole handles everything from the booking, payment and meal arrangement with a breeze. She makes herself available to answer any questions you might have anytime. She was a joy to work with.
Jennifer cooks amazing meals according to your desires while you listen to the beautiful Island music as you look over the beautiful beach and ocean. Her son Jaykie is there to make sure everything is taking care of, from keeping the pool sparkling to setting up your private umbrella and lounger on the beach. He is a hard worker and fisherman. I had the privilege to have eaten the fresh fish and lobster caught by him. It was a honor of him taking me down the beach to drink Red Stripes at the Lobster Pot and introduce me to his family and friends.
The sunsets were truly breath taking. Susanna and there beautiful daughter make you feel right at home. The owner takes great pride in keeping both the villa and the staff with everything you need or want to make this a trip of a lifetime. I will soon come!"

"Bliss by the Sea was wonderful! Comfortable home and great staff. Jennifer was an excellent on cook, always on time and very accommodating. We had the beach to ourselves."
~ January 2016 guests from VT

"We stayed here with our daughter and another couple and their daughter and we had a fabulous time! The part of the beach that this house is located on is perfect and the best we have seen in Treasure Beach. It's wide, secluded and a gorgeous cove too. We could see spectacular sunsets from the pool area and the beach. It really was Bliss by the Sea! We felt completely safe and well cared for the whole time and we loved the cooking! The house was absolutely what we wanted and we will return!"

"This is our second vacation with Jamaica Escapes and I am even more pleased than the first vacation (which got 5 stars). The property is absolutely gorgeous. From the inside of the home, to the Patio/Pool area, to the beach that is just steps from the pool. The location is very safe and most nights slept with the door to the patio open. Jennifer and Monica were nothing short of awesome.
Jennifer takes a lot of pride in her cooking and you get a full table set when you sit down to eat, i did not expect that and was definitely a treat. The only draw back on Jennifer's cooking is its so good, you might eat too much. Ask her for her "Rum Drunk" and her Callaloo . Jaykee is a real cool guy, very laid back and for the most part stayed out of the way. From time to time he would clean the pool out for us (several times daily) and have small talk, but was mainly caring for the grounds and doing chores. Monica is the life of the party and a lot of fun. Great conversation and a beautiful soul. I could go on and on, but my wife and I are planning to come back to Bliss by the Sea next year.
The beach is beautiful, with good waves and not busy at all. Might see 5-6 people in the morning, beyond that its rare to see people on the beach. We hiked Pedro's Bluff, got a Massage from Shirley's Steambath (the steambath and massage were great), and went to Jack Sprats multiple times. Their jerk crab and homemade ice cream is great. Finally I love dealing with Tiverton House. Nicole is awesome, this property came as a suggestion from her for our group of 6 (3 couples) and it was perfect. Thanks again Nicole and will call you in a few months to arrange our next trip!"

"We stayed with our two teenage children and our friends rented another villa down the beach. The location was beautiful. Every morning Miss Jennifer made had our coffee waiting for us and we would sit on the addirondack chairs by the pool overlooking the ocean. The layout of the Villa was great for our family. The master bedroom is connected to the main house and the two guest bedrooms are located in a detached building behind the main house. Miss Jennifer cooked amazing meals and when we ate with our friends she would coordinate the meals with their cook. We rented bikes and kayaks which was a little tricky due to "Jamaica time". Not always reliable as to delivery but it worked out in the end. When we ventured out we would ride the bikes on back trails down to Jakes and have snacks. and drinks. We spent New Years relaxing!!! A great way to start the Year This was our second time in Treasure Beach and we hope to keep going back. Not the place to travel to if you are looking for all the bells and whistles of a big resort."
~ December 2013 guests from Westchester, NY

"What an amazing location! The house is literally steps away from soft sand beach, and it was so peaceful to view the bluff in the distance and listen to the sound of the waves while floating in the pool. The reviews of Jennifer's food (she is the chef and manager) were true: it was amazingly delicious. I would recommend that you allow her to suggest a menu, as we did, of regional cuisine including fresh ripe fruit and even salt fish and ackee. Jakey, her son, can take you hiking, or you can explore the beach and nearby coral breaks, which reveil tiny coves and tidal pools. It was very dry (they were having a five month drought), and often overcast which makes for comfortable, non-humid weather, and there is a constant breeze off the ocean (it finally did rain on one of our last days).
The house is comfortable and feels like a vacation home, though the bedrooms in the courtyard seem to be just for sleeping as they lack the view and breeze of the master bedroom. The pool is clean and not loaded with chlorine, so you will see birds and bats swoop in for a quick drink. Lots of fun excursions which the guide, Tristan, will tell you about. We went to the falls, on a bike ride through town (not a typical strip of businesses, but scattered restaurants, groceries, and shops), and even a visit to an Accompong village high in the nearby mountains. You will probably need a cab to take you to places as walking would take quite a while, but arranging for a driver (who is prompt and very friendly) is simple. It helps to use your mobile on roaming or buy a SIM card, as they will pick you up to return when you call them. Not many options for working out, if you are so inclined, and the atmosphere is designed for relaxing. There is A/C if you want it in the bedrooms, but often it was fine without it. Overall, an excellent and not too crazy expensive place to relax and enjoy the quiet side of Jamaica. Highly recommended and we hope to return soon!
~ June 2013 guests from New Jersey

"What an amazing time! This property is beautiful! Literally, right off of the beach (and what a great beach it is). It feels like it's your own private beach since there is hardly anyone around. Beautiful, large pool and lounge chairs right outside your windows. I loved being able to open up all of the rooms, waking up to the ocean and then eating delicious breakfast prepared by Jennifer. Everything is kept up very well by Jennifer and Jaykie, from the rooms to the pool and the yard. There is a really nice gazebo in the yard too, with extra seating and a hammock. Great place to read and enjoy the sounds of the waves and the birds. There is also an outdoor shower right next to the pool to rinse off after you take a dip in the ocean.
We were completely comfortable. Jennifer cooked wonderful Jamaican dishes at our request. Since you're in a fishing village, she can even have fresh seafood caught next door and she'll cook it for you! She is so sweet and kind! Treasure Beach is a really amazing area of Jamaica and I'd recommend it for anyone who'd love to experience the true Jamaica, without so many tourists. It's very safe, so don't worry about that. Plus, they can arrange for a driver to take you on a day trip to Negril if you'd like to spend some time in a busier environment while you're there. Even though Negril is beautiful and fun, you'll definitely appreciate Treasure Beach even more when you get back! I'm glad we only spent a day trip there. We were close enough to walk over to Pedro Bluff for a hike or towards some of the other beach areas nearby. After walking around and seeing the other resorts, we knew that we picked the best one.
Also, I'd like to point out that Nicole from Tiverton House was so helpful and kind to us while preparing for our stay. She made great recommendations and made us feel at ease about things before we got there. She also followed up to make sure that everything went well. It was an incredible trip! We'll definitely be back!

"Great meals, flexible as per our requirements Never seen a finer beach. Occasionally we would have liked a bit of shopping closer at hand, but finally, the silence was preferable. Great TV service - even got a few Toronto hockey games, bedrooms very comfortable without being too fancy. Loved the pool and beach combo. Used both daily. A broken frig was replaced immediately. Amazing service. Another time, I might rent a car for 2-3 days so we could explore a bit more. All in all, one of the best holidays ever."
~ January 2013 guests from Ontario, Canada

"Jenifer took excellent care of us, and made sure everything was perfect. We would return in a heartbeat. The drive is like something from National Geographic. At the end of the trip, I told my brother-in-law that if they went again in December with us we could try something on the other coast so they got the feeling of the other side. He said no, they wanted to come back to Bliss By The Sea. We taught Jaykee and his girlfriend to play dice and enjoyed their company."
~ July 2011 guests from Clinton, OH

"Our experience was great. Jennifer is a lovely person, great cook and housekeeper. Jayke was also charming and we felt safe when he was there. Treasure beach area is a well kept secret. We did not see many tourists besides ourselves. The house was absolutely amazing inside and out. We are not used to being able to have the windows open constantly-very enjoyable. The pool was our favorite part and we spent many hours per day in it. Everyday we would switch the places we sat at Bliss By The Sea, so many chairs and hammocks to choose from. We also enjoyed the YS falls via Mr. Hibbard and a trip with Jon to the Black river in his boat—fantastic. We felt safe while on our own private beach (or at least it seemed to be all ours). Other guests should expect to read, swim, eat, swim, relax and swim. Thank you for doing the arranging."

~ March 2011 guests from New Jersey

"We had a wonderful stay! Jennifer and J-key took excellent care of us and I believe we've made friends for life. Jen can really cook. You've got really good people working at this villa. The service was 5 star. Jennifer and Jackie were fantastic! I'm going to spread positive words about Bliss By The Sea. We've got a frost bitten Canadian's up here that need to experience the South Coast."
~ February 2011 guests from Canada

"We had a wonderful time and we are well rested. I am still in slow motion; it is very hard to get back in the swing of things and not to mention the snow storm that we came back too! Jennifer & Jaykie were great – no complaints there at all – it was very hard to leave them."
~ February 2011 guests from Canada

“I think that I can speak for all of us in saying that our stay in Jamaica and the accommodations at Bliss far exceeded our expectations. We had such a wonderful vacation and enjoyed every aspect of our time in Great Bay. Jaykie and Jennifer took excellent care of us and we have already been singing praises to our friends. I look forward to the opportunity to vacation there again. The property is in very good hands with Jennifer and Jaykie, they are great people. Thank you for everything you did to make our vacation so enjoyable, we truly do appreciate it!"

“Our stay was WONDERFUL! Thank you so much for everything. They have done an excellent job decorating and designing the house. Jennifer and Jakey were warm, thoughtful and accommodating and it was great staying with them. It was a great week!”
~ August 2010 guests from Brooklyn, NY

"We had a wonderful time in Great Bay. Jennifer and Jaykie are very gracious hosts. We learned a great deal about the local area of farmers and goat herders. Jennifer is a very good cook and we felt at home pretty much from day 1. We can tell that lots of work has already been done to get the house and yard in the beautiful shape it is in and that there are plans for even more dramatic landscaping. The place is already amazing and we are hoping in the future to come back and see the finished product."
